Kinematic architecture introduces movement as an architectural design parameter. The course focuses on time- based modeling and representation: animated geometry, moving parts, camera paths, object hierarchy, pivots, modifiers, and simple automation in 3ds Max.
In architectural education, design work usually focuses on static models, drawings, and visualizations. This workshop expands that approach by introducing time as an additional dimension of design and presentation. Students will learn how movement, sequence, and changing perspective can support the development and communication of spatial ideas.
The course is designed as an architectural design workshop using 3ds Max, not as a software course only. Students will develop a short animated architectural study based either on their own concept or on a provided exercise model.
