Comfort with the status quo is extraordinarily powerful. The fear of moving into an unknown future state creates anxiety and stress, Even if the solution a that the project presents is a wonderful improvement to a the current situation problem, there will still be resistance to change. That’s why the company needs cooperation at all levels to implement a the consultant’s advice.

However, there is are a few groups of employees which are more likely to be resistant to the suggested changes. Especially people who created or highly invested in the way solution that will now be changed and, most importantly, people who have been very successful and rewarded in the current way of doing work.

Putting the effort into personal engagement helps to build some credibility with the staff who are resisting. resistant/who resist. What the consultant should do in this particular example is to initially give the staff a the voice and allow to articulate what their concerns are to help them focus on the issues rather than on emotions attached to the change.
