Start-ups (at least 150 words please)

As I study, I think more and more often about whether I would ever want to start a business. Previously, I thought that when I graduated, I would definitely start a cosmetic company because I was interested in it and there is a huge interest in this industry on the market. However, now that my studies are about to end, I have doubts. I don't know if I want to run a business. It is a big responsibility and obligation that I am afraid of. In any case, I think my opinion may change over the years.

When I was almost sure that I would open my business, I checked if there were any organizations that would help in this. I found funding to launch a start-up from the employment office. It is certainly a great help, because you can buy specialized equipment without major financial problems. When it comes to documentation issues and providing guidance, accountants or people who have already implemented it help with them. Therefore, it is worth having such connections. In addition, I have heard that Science and Technology Parks also help in this.

I agree with a TED speaker that timing is is a crucial factor for a start-up success because I believe it is good to start a career at the right time when the market needs the business. This is what guarantees customers and high earnings. In addition, I believe that time also affects having the right funds or skillfully obtaining them, and this allows you to equip your business with high-quality equipment.

Of course there was not only one time when I considered that idea. Not before sooner will I graduate, do I want to start my own company. At this point I am an owner of a foodtruck, but that company this small business/enterprise is more or less the thing/what I want to do now. In the future I would start a company connected with construction and building. To achieve that I have to consider getting MA thesis an MSc in this particular field subject.

I started thinking about starting up my own business about 2 years ago. I have many interesting ideas in my head and there’s no time I’m not thinking of them and not trying to improve them. How am I advanced in planning? It’s a tough question, because I think that I will be planning them for a long time and I will implement one at least in 2 years. I don’t want to hurry, not only because of the funding but firstly I want to absorb some useful experience while working in some company.

I haven’t considered starting up a new business. It is because I have no idea what it could be. I’m also scared to make decisions such as opening my own business. Not now. I’m afraid that it won’t work or something will happen. Something similar to the situation caused by Covid-19, as it is now for example. It could destroy my plans and my business. I've thought about starting my own business several times but I ended up thinking. I think that I need to work on my personality and increase my business knowledge. In the future I;m going up to start my own company but as I said before I have to prepare myself very well for it.

Taking into account the fact I am going to finish my studies, I have started to consider what about the future. One of the ideas was to start my own business. I have a few ideas, but I am sure starting-up a new venture is sophisticated and demanding lots of experience. Besides that, my parents are business people so I know all advantages and disadvantages of working on your own. The weakest point is you are often 24h at work - I mean - your mind is all the time engaged in improving your business and answering the actual needs of the target market. I am not convinced it is the best concept for me now. Actually, I should focus on gaining experience. I suppose I will start-up an idea in the future, but the 5 factors mentioned by the TED speaker should be fulfilled at first. The time ought to be appreciable both to the market and an entrepreneur. I would opt for this factor choosing a crucial thing to do a start-up. If I met the requirements, I would like to find a way to account for funding requirements. In big cities or agglomerations like Trójmiasto, there is more method to find financial support. A good example is a business incubator, which is less available in smaller towns. People here could just rely on help from the European Union. The perfect possibility is to find a business angel who could afford the needs of the plan.

Well I have never really considered starting up my own business. Maybe a few times more as an joke than anything else. Making fun of how simple and easy it would be to earn big bucks with me as a CEO. Of course this is not counting last week’s forum assignment where I adamantly refused to be entrepreneur based on the personality characteristics requirements for ‘good entrepreneurs’ posted there. But if I were to disregard those ‘requirements’ and previous assignment, instead focusing on today’s TED video I guess I could get on-board with making an start-up. Provided that my timing is right, good ‘idea’ of an business is there and I have good team-members supporting me, not to mention money and plan, I might consider changing my mind. Although all things considered, I do not agree with TED speaker, because if you are not motivated and hard working enough, no matter the timing, you will not succeed. Number 1 should be motivation and effort, because even if all five of factors are there, if you do not even deign to show up to work or do your job then you will never succeed. For example even if somebody shown up and given me those 5 essentials for successful business on a platter but I disregarded it because of ‘mental barriers’ or ‘cultural preconceptions’ or simply because I was too busy doing nothing, then my start-up would not work either way. In essence MOTIVATION is crucial. Young entrepreneurs who are willing and motivated can seek help with companies like Idealab or if the start-up is already running Endeavor’s a choice. Aires for Ashoka is example of organization that supports social entrepreneurs in Buenos Aires, but there are plenty of options to choose from locally for someone who is motivated and has time to look for help.

I have never seriously considered starting my own business, because so far my main focus has been gaining knowledge and my main goal is to complete my studies. Unfortunately, I have not yet acquired the necessary experience in the industry to start any venture. I also think there will be time for that in the future. I am also aware of the huge responsibility of running my own business and it often results in many austerities. I am not sure if I would be ready for such a sacrifice at this stage in my life. Perhaps if I start working in the profession after completing my education my point of view will change.

I totally agree with TED speaker. I believe that it is crucial to be able to see the current demand for a product or service. This is one of the reasons why nowadays it is becoming more and more popular to conduct marketing research, from which you can find out what is currently selling best. Even if your idea is worth millions but the prevailing trends are not conducive to it, it may fail at the very beginning.

Frankly speaking, when I was younger I thought that I will never run my own business. I always thought that I need much money and a brilliant idea to start up my own business. I was scared that I’m not creative enough and my account is not big enough. Everything changed when I started my studies. As I’m getting closer to graduate from university, I start to realize that I have more and more knowledge to do this. I think the biggest step I took in this direction was to start studying Engineering Management at my faculty of Management and Economy.
To be honest, I have no idea what way my life is going to go and what will I do in the future. One thing I’m sure is that I want to live on my own terms. It would be amazing if I could have my own company in the future. But before that, I should gain some experience with working for other companies.
I am currently working as a mobile advisor in a car rental company. I find this job enjoyable because I’ve got contact with clients. I’ve learned many useful things in this job that I can use in the future to start my own business. Of course as a young entrepreneur I will need way more help to do this. One of the places where I can get helping hand are business incubators and family that runs their own businesses. There are also business angels who support financially start-ups and give practical advice and guidance.
I definitely agree with Bill Gross who was a TED speaker that timing is a crucial factor for start-ups success. One of the biggest company in the world – Amazon, was founded by a people that didn’t have a lot of money or business model. The timing to start their business was perfect and that is the key for success.

I have been considering starting my own business but it was one year ago. I talked with my friends and we talked about possibilities for us to cooperate and start a new business by taking into consideration our different studies. Since then nothing has progressed and we are focusing more on finishing studies and finding a job first. I am look forward to talk again with my friends in the future about this topic.
There are many companies that specialize in helping new startups to grow. They are called incubators. If the new company show a good business plan, incubator can provide financial support and business guidance for a couple of years. For example, there is one in Gdański Park Naukowo-Technologiczny where there are lots of free courses where specialists present very important information for start ups and also, they give examples from their life.
I agree with Ted speaker that timing is the most important of all. You can have perfect busines plan and great idea but without knowing right people and having good timing by analyzing the market and economy you could still fail in growing new business. That’s why YouTube is a good example. They didn’t have good business plan but their timing to launch website was perfect and after that they decided to develop other sectors of their successful company.
